How to remove mould or mildew stains

A living growth plus staining. Kill the growth, then treat the mark.

Method

1. 1

   Dry and brush

   Dry the item outdoors and brush spores off away from living space.

2. 2

   Soak

   Soak in an oxygen-based solution for several hours.

3. 3

   Wash hot if allowed

   Wash at the highest temperature the care label permits.

4. 4

   Dry fully

   Dry completely — residual damp restarts the growth.

What makes it worse

• Do not store the item damp
• Do not use chlorine bleach on coloured or delicate fabric
