How to remove make-up stains

Pigment suspended in oil or silicone — the oil has to go before the colour will.

Method

1. 1

   Lift solids

   Scrape off any surface product with a blunt edge.

2. 2

   Degrease

   Apply washing-up liquid or micellar water to the mark and leave 10 minutes.

3. 3

   Blot pigment

   Blot with a damp white cloth, working inwards from the edge.

4. 4

   Wash

   Launder per the care label and check before drying.

What makes it worse

• Do not rub lipstick — it spreads the pigment
• Do not use hot water at the first step
